Then and Now
Inspired by an article on Boortz.com today, I am starting a “Then and Now” segment of rejectsociety.com. The way it works is, we look at various issues and find quotes or pictures on the subject from the great influential minds of the past and compare them to quotes and pictures of today’s influences.
2008/05/02: Inspired by Theodore Terbolizard:
Then: “A long habit of not thinking a thing wrong gives it a superficial appearance of being right.” -Thomas Paine
Now: “Probably my worst quality is that I get very passionate about what I think is right.” - Hillary Clinton
2008/04/26: Inspired by today’s article:
Then:
Now:
How far the republic has fallen…
2008/04/25: Just a few of my favorite quotes today
Then: “Society everywhere is in conspiracy against the manhood of every one of its members. …Whoso would be a man must be a nonconformist.” - Ralph Waldo Emerson
Now: “We must stop thinking of the individual and start thinking about what is best for society” -Hillary Clinton
2008/04/18 Todays comes from the Georgia Public Policy Foundation’s “Friday Facts:”
Then: “The war against illegal plunder has been fought since the beginning of the world. But how is… legal plunder to be identified? Quite simply. See if the law takes from some persons what belongs to them, and gives it to other persons to whom it does not belong. See if the law benefits one citizen at the expense of another by doing what the citizen himself cannot do without committing a crime. Then abolish this law without delay … If such a law is not abolished immediately it will spread, multiply and develop into a system.” - Frederic Bastiat “The Law”
Now: “The truth is, in order to get things like universal health care and a revamped education system, then someone is going to have to give up a piece of their pie so that someone else can have more.” - Michelle Obama
